My goal for 2015? You’ll never guess it. It’s simply to read! Ah, but to clarify, my specific goal is to read my ever growing pile of books and journal articles that are NOT on a screen.
And I’m going to use this cute picture of my little boy, Thomas, to remind me to focus on my goal. Picture books, neurologic music therapy books, journal articles, fabric books — they’re all good!
I’ve recently come to the realization that I probably read more than ever, but it is way too easy to get sucked into online reading opportunities. So, on office days, I plan to read one journal article or book chapter BEFORE opening my computer screen and getting sucked in to the infinite possibility of distractions waiting for me.
Can you relate to my situation? If you would like to focus on a similar goal and are looking for an accountability partner on this, drop me an email. Of course, our reading piles would probably grow because we’d end up making reading recommendations to each other, but I don’t see that as a negative. The opportunities for learning are so much fun!
